Labor day is near - but you can still take a road trip!

Submitted by Wanderlust Andi

According to AAA, gas prices are at their lowest levels since 2004: more that eighty cents a gallon less than the same time last year. While Labor Day is usually more of a “staycation” holiday for most, AAA and the Institute for Highway Safety estimated that, last year, 34.7 million travelers took trips of more than 50 miles - and 86% of those trips were by car. This year looks like it is going in the same direction!

So - this is the year to take one of those exciting road trips, given the low price of gas. You can till find great deals - especially in:

  • Orlando, Florida
  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
  • San Diego, California
  • Toronto, Ontario Canada
  • Gatlinburg, Tennessee

So yes- the Labor Day weekend is just around the corner. But - all you have to do is get in the car - and go!

Reduce travel stress

Submitted by Wanderlust Andi

Traveling is stressful, and the stress doesn’t necessarily stop when you reach your destination. So make life easier by having the addresses you need on hand. Also, set the GPS in your phone for audible directions to get you where you’re going. Rent a car, unless you are somewhere taxis or public transit are easier to use, and when you rent, use a loyalty program to save time and paperwork. Check the weather too, to avoid surprises. Finally, allow yourself plenty of extra time.
