Taking city tours while travelling
Submitted by Wanderlust AndiWhen I travel I tend to spend many hours researching where to go and what to do. This planning can be very stressful and to be honest, I’m not very good at it. Taking a city tour is an inexpensive way to avoid some of that unpleasantness. Plus, I had never really considered the fact that everyone knows about the places mentioned online. It would be nice to learn about the places the locals appreciate and so few tourists really get to see.
For example, I just went to Mackinac Island in Michigan and took the horse carriage ride around the island (since Miackinac Island does not allow autos or buses). I found it delightful - the carriage ride was relaxing and pleasant, and our guide pointed out not only the history and best locations around the island, but also a lot of the inside information about how locals live on an island with no cars.
This is a tip that I would definitely recommend!
