We, as travellers, are totally wired

In our growing age of information and the constant use of technology, travelers rely on a variety of technologies for a range of purposes–from keeping in touch with family members back at home, to mapping their destinations and routes on their travels, to searching for hotels, flights, and restaurants. This is causing travel companies, like Expedia, to come out with apps that make is easier for the wired customer to find hotels.

Hopefully, hotels will pick up on this trend so we, at least, don't have to unplug the clock just to plug in one of the many mobile devices we carry.

Some hotels are beginning to experiment with keyless entry into hotel rooms. The hotels outfit their doors with special technology so that guests can use smart phones to open the doors. There are some issues with this, however. The biggest problems that have cropped up so far are convenience issues and issues involving guest security.
