What hi-tech hotel equipment do you want?

Submitted by Wanderlust Andi

Hotels are constantly looking for new ways to entice travelers, and the latest development appears to be rooms with hi-tech options for those with a multitude of digital tastes. Business travelers in particular seem to lean toward rooms loaded with new technology, including super-charged remote controls and personal iPads that serve as a digital concierge for guests.

So, for example, guests can use iPads to change the temperature, lights, television, and curtains in their rooms. And, at the New Yorker Yotel, technology actually helps with your luggage (which leads to the question: "how much do you tip a robot?").

I don't know - maybe these would help. Certainly, easy, quick access to the TV lineup for the room's television would help - that is something you rarely have. But, more importantly: could the hotels also put empty plugs next to the bed stands?

Yikes! You could be charged $50 for just putting your cream in the minibar at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. They call it a "restocking" fee. Bottom line: don't touch that minibar, for fear of a huge, bottom line surprise on your hotel bill!
