Would you book a hotel room with your car’s GPS?

Book a room nearby with your car's GPS

General Motors has a new service that will let you book hotel rooms right through your car. The paid service is called "AtYourService", and will allow you to find and book a room near you through OnStar at the hotel of your choice, right through Priceline.com. Would you use this service, or it just another unnecessary paid feature of already expensive cars?

But, would you get a good hotel rate?

For myself, I find that you can get much lower rates if you don't just book Priceline's standard rates and, instead, do more research. So, if this is only about booking via Priceline's standard rate for a hotel near me then, no, I am not interested. My iPhone would probably have an easier, more feature-rich interface.

What about finding hotels along my route, instead?

However, think about it: the GPS application knows your route. If the GPS application could show hotel price, ratings, and availability of hotels along the route, it would be far easier to decide whether to stop now - or 4 hours down the road. Now that is an application I could be interested in.
