Is your hotel a disaster?

Submitted by Wanderlust Andi

Sometimes there are obvious clues about the service you’ll get at a hotel. For example, what does the lobby look like? It should be clean, and at least 1/2-way inviting. And, does there seem to be enough staff - with the right equipment?

Once you reach your room, what is the carpet like? It should not be stained, or look like it has seen it's better days. A quick check for cleanliness is the bathroom - the toilet should be cleaned, and you should not see mold and mildew on the floor or shower.

Overall, the best way to get a hotel that is suitable is to check the customer reviews. For example, I have found that if the hotel is rated 3 or above in Trip Advisor, it will be a fairly decent hotel. Just read through the reviews first to see why the hotel is good or bad. It is always easier to read what others think than to find out for yourself.
