Expedia announces a live travel ticker and real-time reviews
Submitted by Wanderlust AndiExpedia showed off two new features at the Expedia Partner Event in Las Vegas a few weeks ago:
1) A real time travel ticker that keeps a person up to speed with the latest information on hotel activity which you can see when you go to Expedia.com and log in. When I went there, it showed seemingly random hotels, complete with how many rooms were booked in the last 48 hours, when the last booking was, and how many people are viewing the hotel now. The "ticker" is slow, though. I would rather have the ability to quickly add cities or hotels I am interested in, and have the the display include those preferences. Plus, I would like to see the price of the hotels.
2) A hotel review service in real time. By pinging guests after check-in, this app allows instant feedback, so no more waiting until the trip is over to warn others about the awful bed, or the wonderful service you received wherever you stayed. Also, this allows the hotel to address your concerns before you leave and, hopefully, turn bad experiences into good ones. This could be good, but it does beg the question about why the guests don't just talk directly to the hotel.

There are a few crucial things to keep in mind when selecting a hotel for your business travels. No, it is not the proximity to a thriving downtown with lots of fun bars. One of the most important factors to consider is the proximity of the hotel to the client's office and airport (if you are flying in). You don’t want to be spending the majority of your trip in the car or a taxi.
Do you use WiFi in hotels? Think twice before booking with Marriott
Submitted by Wanderlust AndiIf you are a WiFi user, don't book with the Marriott hotel chain until you have factored in the price of their WiFi.
Marriott, a 4-star hotel chain which can easily cost $200+ per night, also charges you for internet service: per device!
