Making proper use of hotel reviews.

Submitted by Wanderlust Andi

Consumers are more empowered than ever when choosing hotel accommodations. Hotel review sites like TripAdvisor allow for every individual to really look into a hotel, and see what other people are saying about the accommodations. In fact, a study revealed that 96% percent of the people searching for hotels use these hotel review sites. The reviews give an individual some insight that you wouldn’t get from the hotel itself, giving the consumer a better chance that they will be more satisfied with their stay.

Faked reviews?

One interesting fact noted in this article is that 30% of the people who are looking for hotels feel that reviews can be faked. I know that when I look at the reviews, I mentally throw out most of the 5 star reviews (or whatever rating is used), as well as most of the 1 star reviews.

It is tough for a hotel to be absolutely perfect, so how can all the visitors rank a hotel as 5 stars? On the flip side, how can a hotel be absolutely no good, when most of the other reviewers are ranking the hotel at 3 stars or above?

The 2-4 star reviews will give you a much better feel for the hotel's pros and cons, so you can better determine the best hotel for you.

You don’t want to be spending the majority of your trip in the car or a taxi.
