Escanaba, Michigan: Ludington Park
Submitted by Wanderlust AndiJust south of the downtown area of Escanaba, Michigan, is a beautiful park – the Ludington Park. It goes on for for almost one 1 mile along the shore of Lake Michigan, providing you incredible, peaceful views of Lake Michigan. According to Wikipedia, Ludington Park is one of the largest city parks in all of Michigan.
Within the park, there is a lighthouse, a museum (that you can visit if you're there in the summer). There are also plenty of areas to fish, walk, bike, and picnic, all while enjoying the beauty of Lake Michigan. There's also many tennis courts. volleyball sets, and an incredibly large children's playground with beautiful wooden equipment.
Be sure go to Aronson Island, where there is a municipal swimming beach, complete with a changing house plus a nice path where you can walk or bike along the shoreline of Lake Michigan.
I'm quite partial to this park, as I worked several afternoons at the park during Escanaba's beautiful fall weather. Why have a view when you can be right in the view?
Anyone who loves Lake Michigan will love this park.
