Escanaba, Michigan: Stones Deli and Fireside Dining and Conversation

Submitted by Wanderlust Andi
Another amazing find in Escanaba, Michigan: Stones Deli. I went in for some coffee, and ended up getting a scone, also - because everything was so tempting.

They have a bit of everything: fresh, melt in your mouth scones, great coffee, cocoas and smoothies. The bagels also looked good: they came complete with a huge array of cream cheeses, plus egg, cheese and sausage. For lunch, there are plenty of wraps, pasta, salads, soups, and specialty sandwiches. One sandwich in particular has my eye: the Balsamic and Muenster Pot Roast Sandwich, complete with grilled onions and home-made horseradish.

And, as the sign above their door says - they make substantial - and great - coffee.

But, the atmosphere is the best. The restaurant is in a large, historical building, complete with a tin ceiling, wood floors, brick walls and a fireplace. And, I just heard the server ask "Are you women going to sit at your usual table?". Obviously, a local favorite!

Just make sure to get there early, for they close at 6 pm in the fall and winter.
