Don't let fear of travel stop you from taking that needed vacation

Submitted by Wanderlust Andi

There are a large number of things that can cause people to fear travel, sometimes to the point that those who need a vacation the most will avoid it instead of enduring more stress.

Some of the common fears reported by Facebook users have included financial issues, the unexpected, accommodation errors, food issues, and more. However, these issues are both less common than many fear, and can also often be avoided with some careful planning in advance.

For those issues that may happen spontaneously during travel, regardless of your careful planning, a level head and a helping of patience can get you through most situations. Speaking with the hotel, your travel agent, or the appropriate customer service agent for the issue can often get the issue resolved quickly and with little hassle.

And sometimes, just a change of behavior and a readjustment in thinking can help. For example, one of my fears is making a hotel reservation that can't be changed, then having plans change. One way I have of coping with this is making the reservations as late as possible. And, the other is realizing that in the 3 years that I have been traveling, I have yet needed to cancel.

So - get over those fears - and get to traveling. We all need vacations in life!
