Have a safe and secure trip with these tips
Submitted by Wanderlust AndiGoing on a trip soon? Whether you are going abroad - or whether you are just taking a short road trip for a weekend get-away, there are some tips you should be aware of to ensure a robbery won't ruin your trip:
- Don't advertise that you are going away on your social media accounts. This is just a public announcement that your home will be empty and available - for robbers.
- Carry just what you need. If you need a passport, carry that. But, don't carry items like social security cards and medical cards. That way, if your purse or wallet gets stolen, you have not lost everything.
- Speaking of purses and wallets - make extra sure that they are close at hand. For purses - carry a purse with a strap that cross over your body, with the purse positioned in front of you. For wallets - carry them in your front pocket. You never know what the people behind you are doing.
- Keep in touch with your credit card companies. Credit card companies have fraud alerts, and can put your credit card on hold if they start seeing purchases outside your town. If you tell them where you will be in advance, you will be spared the pain of not being able to pay for that wonderful dinner or souvenir due to a credit card not being accepted.
Trips are great! Losing your money and credit cards aren't. Following these few, sensible tips will reduce the chance that you will be robbed or lose your credit card access - so you can enjoy your trip.
